Hi All - Great gig at Pacific Road the other night. Not quite the sell out it was rumoured to be (!) but lots of Bolan fans there looking forward to attending their first convention in Liverpool as a result of seeing us and picking up a leaflet. We were first on the bill and there was a great vibe to the gig, with the crowd really enjoying themselves from the offset . Although it was not sold out the crowd made us feel very welcome and the after show response was really something else. Thanks to all of those who turned up and enjoyed themselves. The evening was rounded off perfectly with STIPE, a fantastic REM tribute band who played all the hits and then some. A great bunch of guys who clearly enjoy themselves on stage, just like us!!
A wholly eclectic night which worked very well with both sets of fans enjoying both bands.
Check STIPE out if REM float your boat - they are uncannily accurate: www.stipe.co.uk

Hi All! For anyone stumbling across us for the first time, or any seasoned JEEPSTER-goers interested in reading about us, what follows is a brief ‘Band Philosophy’. Thanks to all those who have supported us in 2005. 2006 is gonna be another great year for JEEPSTER!It is a pressure on any band on the live music scene today, but being a tribute band out there trying to appeal to long standing fans as well as recruit new ones can be a minefield as well as a heck of a lot of fun! When fans of an artist observe a tribute to that artist, the expectation is very high, as nobody wants to see a poor tribute to their idol or idols for many obvious reasons. It is also difficult to perform such a wide era of music, especially where Bolan is concerned, as everyone has favourite eras and opinions of how they should be performed. There are people who enjoy hearing exact replications of the music they have loved on record for years and others who enjoy different renditions, adorned with improvised sections and spontaneous changes. Any preference is a fan’s prerogative and we respect that as a band. The joy about the Bolan tribute scene today is that there are top quality acts out there that can cater for most people’s needs. Acts like TooRex, Tyrannosaurus Jed, T.Rextasy, Rarn, Rob Cairns and Get It On all have their own styles, preferred eras and ways of interpreting Marc’s music. This adds to the richness of the Bolan experience. Our advice is to experience them all and enjoy them for what they are, heartfelt, passionate tributes to a genius.
JEEPSTER are primarily about keeping Marc Bolan’s music alive, and live. We are a bunch of down to earth friends who have grown up in one way or another with Bolan’s music. We also respect Bolan’s fun and spontaneity as a live performer and marvel at the way he never allowed a song to sound exactly the same every time he played it live. We endeavor to create that fun, unpredictable spirit on stage and do not place priority on playing all of the hits exactly as they are on record. We have been inspired by those fantastic performances such as ‘Jeepster’ with the ‘Robin Hood’ Lyric wryly inserted and the ‘Cilla’ performance of ‘Life’s A Gas’ with the ‘princess’ addition to the wonderful lyric!
As any fan will know, Marc Bolan was never afraid to show his human side beneath the glam exterior, as footage clearly shows. We too are not afraid to display this trait, interacting with the audience and emitting a raw chemistry as a band whilst remaining ourselves in-between songs. We have strived to recreate the authentic 'live' sound of early 'Born to Boogie' era T.Rex, using vintage equipment and congas. We also take pleasure in putting our own touches to Bolan’s songs and enjoy, as Bolan did, to improvise where we feel appropriate. Attendees at our gigs may experience additional choruses and verses with lyrics lovingly played around with, impromptu renditions of more obscure Bolan songs and a heck of a lot of fun! We also do not attempt to quell our individual musicianship as well as recreating that T.Rex vibe as we feel this adds to the fun and uniqueness of the JEEPSTER show.
We hope that this sheds a little light onto what we’re about. Here’s to another great year for Bolan’s music and a big hello to any newcomers on the Bolan scene!
Come up (or down) and see us sometime! Rock On and Tanx XX JEEPSTER XX
